Stroud Green Farmers’ Market
Perth Rd/Ennis Rd N4 3HB
O Edmund is of market men a chieftain and a king
and of his noble fruit and veg I raise my voice to sing:
Jo sells cabbages and broccoli, potatoes, sprouts and peas,
all English stuff! – Pears, apples, plums and strawberries.
Then Alan at the Pie Station is the greatest guy to meet,
with pies, pasties, quiche and fantastic things to eat.
There’s Luke’s snazzy cider and local London beer,
it’s all a buzz with local honey and there’s raw milk here.
O Edmund is of market men a chieftain and a king
and now of smelly French cheeses hold your nose and ever sing:
there’s Comté, Pont-l’Évêque, Camembert and Brie,
from Provence and Haut-Savoie up as far as Normandy.
While fresh from Kent there’s poultry, eggs and fresh meat
and then local organic dairy – still more eggs to eat! –
there’s skin care, coffee, leather goods and biryani.
and probiotic wotnots, mystic things and yummy chutney.
O Edmund is of market men a chieftain and a king
and if you want some decent grub now here’s a funny thing:
Italian wine, chai tea, well, teas and coffees in lakes,
real breads, Victoria sponges, and all sorts of cakes.
Buy sourdough and chocolate brownies – “very good indeed!” –
Get hot food at lunchtime, have a really good feed:
sausage rolls, pizza, Bangladeshi, BBQ and Thai,
and fudge, vegan options, olives and steak and ale pie,
O Edmund is of market men a chieftain and a king
and Stroud Green Farmer’s Market is the thing of which I sing:
I’m afraid I haven’t mentioned Lucy yet, nor every single stall,
but why not come along one Sunday and meet them one and all!

Edmund started a farmers’ market at Stroud Green School in September 2017 and I do enjoy staying with him and L and meeting all their friends and colleagues who bring their produce to the market. There’s a great and happy buzz and the nicest of people.
I wish I used Corel Draw more often! When I want to do something like this market logo picture I have always forgotten how I previously managed to draw parallel ellipses and put the writing where I wanted it!
